Welcome to the Washington High School Band Program
The Washington High School Band Program has a long and cherished tradition of excellence. The Washington Warrior Band Program is made up of a competitive Marching Band, 4 Concert Ensembles, 3 Jazz Bands, an active Pep Band, Show Choir Back Up Band (Quacko), as well as many numerous ensembles.
The goal of the Washington Band program is to help students rehearse for life, whether it is in the musical realm, or in any other path. We strive for the highest musical and personal achievement of our students, while meeting our members at their level, to help them grow in music, and succeed in the future.
Washington High School (commonly Washington, Washington High, or WHS) is a public secondary school located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with an enrollment of approximately 1,805 students. The school is part of the Sioux Falls School District.
Founded in 1908, Washington High School succeeded Central School and Irving High School as the city's predominate secondary public school, built to accommodate a larger student capacity. In 1992 the school transferred from its downtown location to its current site, with the previous building remodeled to become the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science in downtown Sioux Falls.
Washington High School was included in Newsweek's 2008 online edition of the top 1,300 public high schools in America. As of 2009, however, Washington High was the only school to receive US News & World Report's silver medal high school ranking in South Dakota.
