    Band Listening Assignment

Having a great tonal concept is pivotal to sounding great on our instrument.  Imagine trying to paint the sun set if you have never seen one.  Even with a great description from someone who has seen it, words fall short. The same is true for music, as musician we need to know what a great sound on our instrument is.  And the only way to do that is by listening to great performers on our instrument.

    Directions:

Using the list of recommended performers on the home page,  listen to two separate recordings of one the the recommended performers on your instrument.  Fill out the form below.  Make sure to use complete sentences.

Concert Band students are required to complete TWO listening assignments PER SEMESTER. They may be completed at any time but will close the last day of each semester. Each semester, one example should be completed from an ensemble of the recommended literature list and the other example should be specific to the instrument you play.

Freshman Band students are required to complete ONE per semester and can be completed at any time but will close the last day of each semester.

Find two recordings of professional musicians on your instrument and complete the questionnaire below.
